Times of our Lives: 2007 – Nor Hell a Fury

Heav’n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn’d,
Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn’d.

So wrote William Congreve in his 1697 play, The Mourning Bride. Still in use today and adaptable to any circumstance. In New Order’s case, a bass player replaces ‘a Woman’.

The band released a statement yesterday that their dispute with Peter Hook was settled over royalties due since 2011 and every time you read any book about musicians, most big bust-ups involve money at some point. No different from any other business for that matter, just a lot more public.

I did like one like about the story from Rolling Stone, however.

“I really don’t like it when members of bands slag each other off in the press. If you’ve got a problem, you should sort it out without going public. It’s not very pretty, is it?”

To date, Peter Hook has written three books which are Joy Division / New Order related, Bernard Sumner one, and Morris has his version of events coming out in the next twelve months.

Nothing like keeping it private…
