Times of our Lives: 2002 – Illumunating

2002; that was the year that was. The Queen’s Golden Jubilee arrived with lots of celebrations but I don’t recall there being as many street parties as the 1977 Silver Jubilee?

The BBC pondered in January whether the cost was too exorbitant but in June, England was dreaming, particularly when David Beckham sent his penalty kick down the middle of the goal and into the Argentinean net. It never ends well with England in the football so we’ll leave it there.

We said goodbye to:

  • Joe Strummer
  • John Entwhistle
  • Zac Foley
  • John Frankenheimer
  • Rod Steiger
  • Stanley Unwin
